With just over four months to go to the 2017 Cape Epic, Gary Kirsten is eager to get in some valuable time in the saddle.
Next week’s Wine 2 Whales MTB race provides the perfect platform for the 48-year-old to rekindle his love for mountain biking and the great outdoors. He is no stranger to the trails between the picturesque Lourensford Estate in Somerset West and Onrust having completed the race two times previously.
“It is a fantastic training event for the Cape Epic. I am really looking forward to it. It is well organised and sponsored by FNB who I have had a close ties with,” Kirsten said.
Kirsten who is in India at the moment busy working with youngsters in Mumbai as part of his Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy international roadshow, says he is ready to jump straight off the plane and onto his bike.
“I enjoy being out there. It is a chance to connect with old friends and to go out there and have a good time but also to get in three days of training,” Kirsten said. “Hopefully I will stay safe on the bike and enjoy the experience,” he concluded
