Machado joins GKCA for High Performance sessions

Upon returning from the IPL, our GKCA team joined up with St Benedicts superstar and soon to be Kings College superstar, Lorenzo Machado, for a 5 day High Performance program in Cape Town.

Lorenzo first teamed up with Gary Kirsten Academy last year in Pretoria at the 2 day High Performance camp and straight away made an impression. The keeper/batsman has been in prolific form for his school side St Benedicts in Johannesburg, breaking most batting records and has recently decided to finish his schooling at Kings College in Taunton, England.

This opportunity to go abroad brought about the decision for Lorenzo to reconnect with Gary Kirsten academy in Cape Town and fine-tune his skills for English conditions.

It was a fantastic week of work and Lorenzo also had the opportunity to link up with Dane Vilas as part of the program and work on some keeping skills. Gary also returned from the IPL and was able to add some invaluable insight into the skills required and mindset needed for English Conditions. The Program consisted of Skill work, Fitness and mental toughness and it was fantastic to watch a young man with huge potential, take the opportunity and really use it to his advantage.

He Returned home after the camp last week and capped off a fantastic 5 days with GKCA by making 65 of 46 balls for the Force academy.

We will be following Lorenzo’s achievements as he jets off to England and we wish him all the best going forward. The GKCA team will be in England in July and will no doubt be catching up and topping up with some more sessions while visiting.
