Sri Lanka in the end prevailed as the World t20 Champions as India stumbled at the final hurdle. Cricket can be a very harsh sport, in that at any time, it does not matter how well you are playing or how good your record is, it can all come crashing down. Virat Kholi at the moment is a cut above the rest and he showed it again in the final. But as much as an individual performance can win you games, you still need your team to get over that FINAL hurdle.
Sri Lanka’s bowling was outstanding throughout the tournament and when it counted most, they all stepped up to the plate. And then the wise old heads, the ones that step up most in important situations, Kumar Sangakarra and Mahela Jayawardene, made it count.
It was a fantastic tournament. Australia knocked out with only 1 win, who would of thought. South Africa making it through to the semi-finals against all odds. Netherlands making their mark as an international side, beating England. It’s a game that always has twists and turns and keeps us glued to our screens. Bring on the 50 over world cup in 2015, we cant wait!
