Australia show everyone the way, Again!

Over the last few days, we have all had the opportunity to sit back and think about the last 6 weeks of cricket. As the tournament started, there were roughly 6 favourites and it was really anyones World Cup. As the tournament rolled on, New Zealand were playing an exciting brand of cricket, India were dominating their pool and Kumar Sangakarra went about scoring 4 hundreds in a row for Sri Lanka which put them right up there going into the knockouts.

Australia quietly went about their business, while South Africa were looking to build some nice momentum going into the knockouts and you felt they might have just peaked at the right time. When Australia tore India apart in the semi final, you could not help but think that Australia were just going to be to good.

We as an academy have tried to figure out what makes the Australians so powerful in knockout cricket? On paper, you feel if we compared them to the South African side, we would match them man for man. So what is the key ingredient? Do they play big moments better than everyone? they have now won 5 world cup trophies, every team they have put out in a world cup has been competitive with different strengths.

Our feeling is that they adapt the best out of any team in world cricket. They move with the ever evolving format of one day cricket. 20/20 cricket has changed the game and Australia have been quickest, again, to adapt and build a team that they know will win!

Give us your thoughts on why you think Australia are so good? Why are they the benchmark in world cricket?
