The World Cup has started, 2015 is in full flight and cricket in general is a buzz around the world. The Gary Kirsten Academy has been in full flow as well with some new and exciting ventures being planned.
We have had the opportunity to work with a vast array of players at the start of this year, going from County players all the way to Indian and Pakistani players. We started the year off with Graeme Ford sending 4 county players to train with Gary. Its been a great few months with them and Gary feels there is some real talent to work with. We have also had the privilege to work with 4 more experienced county players in, Nic Compton, Chris Nash, Greg Smith and Dawid Malan. Its been incredible to watch Gary with with players of this calibre and some really good feedback was shared by all. We are looking forward to following all the players we have worked with in the summer and Gary is excited with the potential of some of them to go all the way and represent England.
The Academy has also had Muhammad Ijaz Anwar from Pakistan and Karthik Prakash from Bangalore India, visiting and training with Gary as part of our 2 month program. Both boys have been hard at work with all aspects of their game and we look forward to watching them in the near future as well.
The Titans have also just won the momentum cup in Cape Town, a huge effort chasing 280 under lights at Newlands. Where do you think the Cobras went wrong? Did Robin Peterson bowl enough? he is the leading wicket taker in the One day cup. Should the Cobras have scored 300 after the start they got? please send us your thoughts and we will pass them on to Gary.
So much talk is currently around the World Cup in Australia/New Zealand. Gary has recently left to go and consult for the proteas and will join up with Mike Hussey in the South African side. What are your thoughts on this combination? Do you think South Africa can go all the way? Gary is quietly confident of the South African men and lets all hope we can pull it through in the end.
This year has already got off to an exciting start and we will be posting more news more regularly. If you are wanting more information with regards to our camps or programs, please do not hesitate to contact us on coaching@garykirsten.com or follow us on twitter @GK_CA.
